Plano West Youth Lacrosse K-8th Grade
Plano West Lacrosse is dedicated to our mission of creating a safe, encouraging, and competitive atmosphere that fosters a life-long appreciation for the game of lacrosse while focusing on building a solid foundation.
Fall Season: Begins mid-to-late August and ends mid-to-late November.
Spring Season: Begins mid-to-late January and ends early May.
Practices: Players will learn and improve their skills 1-3 times a week (depending on level) through team drills, practices, and scrimmages. All practices and skills days/times may vary depending upon the weather.
Games: Teams should expect to play 8 - 10 games with end-of-season playoffs in the spring for the 5/6 and 7/8 teams.
Whole Athlete: In additional to strength, speed and agility training, we will have a nutritional seminar for our parents and players which will help to educate on how to achieve optimal performance through proper diet and hydration.
All players must have a US Lacrosse #, no exceptions. Go to www.uslacrosse.org to join or renew.
Players will need: a Plano West matte gray helmet, gloves, arm pads, shoulder pads, stick, athletic support, black or royal socks, and a mouthpiece.
Uniforms are purchased separately from Team Lax in Frisco and will be yours to keep. Uniform cost is approximately $120. Players are required to also purchase a West pinnie (broad-shoulder version with numbers on both sides) to wear for practices.
ImPACT Testing is highly recommended for any athlete in a contact sport starting at the age of 11 years old. PWLC offers testing at a nominal fee twice a year for the convenience of our players and parents. Parents may take their player to their doctor to test as well.
Fall 2015 and Spring 2016 Registration Fees:
K – 2nd Grade: $175.00
3rd – 4th Grade: $250.00
5th – 6th Grade: $350.00
7th – 8th Grade: $425.00
We encourage the multi-sport athlete! The best lacrosse players are well-rounded athletes. While we expect our players to be committed to lacrosse during the fall season, we also understand that there are times when other sports commitments conflict. We also highly encourage all players to participate in other sports off-season. Other sports keep your muscles strong, your lungs in shape, your mind focused, your reflexes sharp, and your competitive juices flowing, which all provide for a huge benefit on the lacrosse field!
